Alexis Mac Allister‘s camp are “waiting for an offer” to extend his contract at Liverpool, with the focus “at the moment” on his club amid outside interest.

Mac Allister has been linked with both Real Madrid and, more dubiously, Man United in recent weeks despite enjoying a key role at Liverpool.

This comes with the midfielder’s current deal expiring in 2028 and plans in place to negotiate an extension along with both Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch.

Journalist Ismail Mahmoud, writing for winwin, has claimed an exclusive from Mac Allister’s father and agent Carlos regarding recent links with Man United.

“Alexis is only thinking about Liverpool at the moment,” Mac Allister Sr. said.

“We are waiting for an offer to renew his contract. We will see what the club’s plan is.”

Questioned further on the chances of a move if a new deal is not agreed, he added: “We’ll wait and see what happens with the renewal. That’s all.”

Why Mac Allister’s contract talks are different to Szoboszlai and Gravenberch

These follow similar comments from Szoboszlai’s agent Matyas Esterhazy earlier this week following claims that the Hungarian sees Real Madrid as his lifelong dream.

“I don’t think it is right to talk about what will happen in the summer at the moment,” Esterhazy told NB1 HU.

“Not to mention, Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and Dominik is in a position within the team that has a lot of reserve, so we are not looking outside or elsewhere.”

While not wholly committal – which is understandable given the process of negotiations over a new contract – the words of both Mac Allister Sr. and Esterhazy should be assuring when it comes to two of Liverpool’s key midfielders.

However that an offer is yet to be made regarding the No. 10 could suggest that the club have a decision to make over a player who turned 27 on Boxing Day.

Unlike Szoboszlai, 25, and Gravenberch, 23, Mac Allister could view this next deal as his last big contract, and by the same token, Liverpool could see it as their last opportunity to cash in with the knowledge of interest from Real Madrid.

There is no indication at this stage that Liverpool would part ways with the Argentine, of course, particularly as he is Arne Slot‘s sixth most-used player this season and there are doubts over others around him.

Curtis Jones is into the final 18 months of his deal and had interest from Inter Milan in January, while Stefan Bajcetic and Wataru Endo also see their terms expire in 2028.
