Arne Slot worked with his core squad at the AXA Training Centre on Wednesday, with no new absences but also no players returning ahead of Nottingham Forest.

The Reds head to the City Ground on Sunday to face a Forest side led by their fourth manager this season, after Sean Dyche’s sacking and Vitor Pereira’s appointment.

Coming just over a week after their 3-0 victory over Brighton in the FA Cup, Liverpool will arrive in Nottingham with momentum behind them.

They also do so without any players joining the injury list, with 16 outfielders put through their paces at the AXA on Wednesday afternoon.

Liverpool Training Squad vs. Nottingham Forest

Goalkeepers: Alisson, Mamardashvili, Woodman

Defenders: Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez, Kerkez, Robertson

Midfielders: Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Jones, Nyoni

Forwards: Wirtz, Salah, Ekitike, Gakpo, Chiesa, Ngumoha

Jeremie Frimpong is yet to return to the squad while Wataru Endo recently joined Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni as a long-term absentee.

Stefan Bajcetic is still working on an individual training programme and Jayden Danns is recovering from a hamstring injury as part of the U21s group.

It was a small squad who ran through initial warmup drills in front of the cameras, likely bolstered by a number of academy players later in the session.

That could include Calvin Ramsay, who was not part of the senior squad unlike both Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha – all three players started in a 4-3 win over West Brom U21s on Sunday having come off the bench against Brighton the night before.

January signing Mor Talla Ndiaye was among those warming up with Rob Page’s U21s, with the 18-year-old having seen his start to life at the club impacted by an injury discovered during his medical before signing from Amitie FC.

Slot could consider changes for the clash with Forest, not least a possible switch at right-back with Joe Gomez available to start.

Curtis Jones filled in with distinction against Brighton but is a natural midfielder, and with Endo sidelined Liverpool have fewer options in the middle of the park.

Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike will also return to the lineup having been rested at the weekend, with Slot telling TNT Sports before kickoff that they were “on the edge” in terms of their game time.

While Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister formed an exceptional pairing in midfield in Gravenberch’s absence, Federico Chiesa struggled to make an impact while standing in for Ekitike up front.
